About Holly's Hope

Turning Grief Into Purpose

Holly's Hope Ltd was founded by Micala and Lee Trussler following the murder of their daughter, Holly Newton, in January 2023. What began as a family's determination to prevent other young people from suffering has grown into a nationally recognised organisation driving real change.

We operate across three interconnected mission pillars, each designed to create lasting impact in the lives of young people across the United Kingdom.

Holly's Law

Legislative advocacy to lower the domestic abuse victim age threshold from 16 to include under-16s.

Education

Relationship education packages delivered in schools to help young people recognise and prevent abuse.

Bleed Kits

Community safety through the expansion of publicly accessible bleed kit programmes.

Remembering Holly Newton

Holly Newton was a bright, loving young person from Northumberland whose life was tragically cut short in January 2023. She was just 15 years old.

Holly was known for her warmth, her kindness, and her ability to light up any room. She had her whole life ahead of her—dreams, ambitions, and a future full of possibility.

Her parents, Micala and Lee Trussler, have channelled their grief into a mission to ensure that no other family has to endure what they have. Holly's Hope exists because Holly's life mattered, and her legacy will be one of protection, education, and lasting change.

“We will never stop fighting for Holly, and for every young person who deserves to be safe.”

— Micala & Lee Trussler

Holly's Law

Campaigning to change UK law so that under-16s are recognised as victims of domestic abuse

Why Holly's Law Matters

Under current UK legislation, the domestic abuse victim age threshold is set at 16. This means young people under 16 who experience controlling, coercive, or abusive behaviour from a partner are not recognised as domestic abuse victims under the law.

Holly's Law seeks to change this by lowering the age threshold, ensuring that younger victims receive the same legal protections, support services, and recognition as adults.

Bleed Kits

Placing life-saving bleed kits in public spaces to protect communities

What Are Bleed Kits?

Bleed kits contain essential medical supplies that can help control severe bleeding in an emergency. Like defibrillators, they are placed in accessible public locations so anyone can use them when every second counts.

Where Are They?

We are working to install bleed kits in schools, community centres, and public spaces across Northumberland and beyond. Each kit is registered and maintained to ensure it is always ready when needed.

Get Involved

You can help by sponsoring a bleed kit for your local area, volunteering to help with installation, or contacting us about placing a kit in your school or community space.
